In the Son Pons estate is located the Center for the Conservation of Wildlife in the Mediterranean, in the municipal term of Campanet, Mallorca, which houses the headquarters of the Mediterranean Wildlife Foundation (FVSM) and the Foundation for Conservation Of the Black Vulture (BVCF).
The estate Son Pons, property of the Foundation for the International Conservation of Birds, in its 18 hectares has different areas delimited:
- An hold-oak wood that occupies the greater part its surface and in which are represented vegetal species typical of Majorca, constituting a good example of Mediterranean forest.
- An agricultural area where we find carob, almond, olive and farmland.
- A small stream of water, which flows to the stream of Sant Miquel and in which sporadically can be observed anatidae, herons, aquatic insects, coots, etc.
- A service area where we find: the offices of the FVSM and the BVCF, a conference room and projections, a permanent showroom, a laboratory and a kitchen.
In addition, the Center has facilities for the observation of specimens of black vulture and griffon vulture that are part of the Environmental Education program.
